Real Adventure Stories
We invest in the best possible storytelling from the most experienced, talented journalists in the outdoor space. You won't find listicles, cheap gear roundups, sponsored content, or clickbait in our pages. Instead, expect well-reported investigative stories, character-rich profiles, colorful adventure tales, and nuanced opinions from around the world.

Large Format Photography
We pair the best writing with the best photography and illustrations around. We work with exceptionally skilled photographers to tell rich stories, and we print their work as large as possible.

Independent
Too many magazines that you find at the grocery store are owned by massive outdoor media monopolies more concerned with selling NFTs than sharing good adventure stories. Trails Mag is completely independent, written for—and by—those of us actually sleeping in the dirt.

Coffee Table Quality
Trails Mag isn't mass-produced. It's printed on high-quality paper, it's thick with content, and it puts an emphasis on high-quality design and beautiful large-format photography. This isn't a magazine you throw out when the next one arrives.

Print Only
We want to bring you the things you didn't realize you needed to know. The beauty—and fun—of print is the ability to browse and discover, something a web search will always have a hard time replicating. That's why Trails will only be available in print. No paywalls, no logins, just your mailbox.

Fewer Ads
Legacy magazines stayed afloat (or didn't) by keeping issues ridiculously cheap and jamming ads into every nook and cranny. No more of that. We're strictly limiting ads and carefully choosing advertisers that we believe in and can impact your adventures. Outdoor print magazines are thriving in the current digital age with this model.
I look forward to every issue. I am a hiker and backpacker but I enjoy reading about other sports as well. I liked the way the editers' lists were presented for different scenarios. I don't take the same gear for mid-summer treks as I do for late fall trips. There is no one list for different times of the year. And I laughed when I read your article about thrift store outfitting. My hiking partner lives next to an affluent area and has outfitted herself with major clothing brands (North Face, Patagonia, etc).
Keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to Issue Ten!
The photography is stunning page after page. I found the articles very informative and entertaining, especially the article on the hut to hit hike.
I love this magazine, not just for the gorgeous photos but the stories are always so inspiring! And the recipe ideas are top notch (I’m a foodie). They’re also beautiful just sitting on my coffee table, I get so many compliments on them!!
Such high quality full of content I still haven't finished! 10/10 would recommend. Love that this magazine supports creatives like myself.
