Trails Magazine Issue 8 - The Photography Issue
Trails Magazine Issue 8 - The Photography Issue
Issue 8—The Photography Issue—is a celebration of all things visual, of the beauty of the outdoors, and of the people who capture it. This unique edition still has all the things you love about Trails: great adventure stories, trail maps, backpacking recipes, skills, and gear. But it's far more visual than our typical issues. We worked with some of the most talented photographers and storytellers in the outdoor space to curate a jaw-droppingly gorgeous magazine with stories from across the continent and world. As always, it's printed on hefty 80-pound paper with fewer ads than any other magazine. Stories in this issue include:
- A cover shot from Taylor Roades, from the Nootka Trail in British Columbia, A profile of Boyz N The Wood, a look at the Half Gallon Challenge, and the examination of the reservation phenomenon taking over one Washington lookout, Kurt Refsnider recounts his bikepacking adventure along the Wyoming Range Trail, Photographer Nate Luebbe takes us to a gorgeous Yukon outhouse,
- A Places primer on California’s Kaiser Wilderness,
- An essay about the Grand Canyon from Jessica Normandeau, paired with an illustration from Yagmur Kuzay,
- Writer/photographer Richard Forbes explores the nature of dreams while packrafting Alaska’s Aniakchak National Monument,
- Danny Kern follows along with a trail crew at work in Nevada’s remote Jarbidge Wilderness,
- An photographic exploration of the small details of a backpacking trip, from regular contributor Gloria Goñi,
- Izzy Lidsky searches for a new way to interact with water during a bikepacking trip,
- Emily Bei Cheng tackles Washington’s classic Ptarmigan Traverse with an all-women team of climbers,
- Ethan Hardacre profiles—and maps—a legend of the Teton Rim Trail,
- As well as recipes, Vantage Points, and a lot more.
You won't find any of these stories online. The only way to read them is to pick up a copy of Issue 8 while supplies last.
Want to guarantee you get a copy of Issue 9 for even more stories like that? The only way to do it is to subscribe.
A note for international readers: Back issues are shipped from our headquarters in Washington, so international shipping costs apply if we send them out of the US. Readers in Canada should consider a subscription which includes free shipping—Those copies ship directly from the printer in Winnipeg and don't need to cross the border.
